SPNO – Single Pole Normally Open
Please study the photographs, the circuit diagram shows the switch in its inactivated state, terminals 1 and 2 are connected so the switch is in fact On, when the button is pressed the connection to terminal 2 changes to terminal 3, thus closing the circuit and turning the circuit Off.
Layout:
SPNO – Single Pole Normally Open. There are 2 x 6mm (old 1/4″) silver plated solder terminals at stations 1 and 2 which means switch is normally open or or in the ‘ON’ position, station 3 has no terminal so cannot be connected.
So function is therefore normally ON, to OFF when button pressed. Designed to control a circuit which is On most of the time and switched Off when button pressed.
