A microcontroller (MCU) is a compact, cost-effective “computer-on-a-chip” designed to manage specific tasks within embedded systems. It integrates a processor (CPU), memory (RAM/ROM), and programmable input/output (I/O) peripherals onto a single integrated circuit. These devices excel at sensing, processing, and acting in real-time for applications like home appliances, automotive systems, and IoT devices.
The 8048/8050 series of microcontrollers are widely recognised as standard computers for incorporation into a range of products from electronic washing machines and vending machines through to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Their simplicity makes them ideal for situations where it is necessary to quickly set up a control system. There are 32 I/ 0 lines, memory addressing for up to 64K and optional RAM, EPROM or masked programmed ROM on these range of controllers.
These came to us as part of a lot of surplus stock from a large ‘Milspec’ type Co. They are stored with us still sealed in original packaging (unopened boxes and tubes) and are in pristine condition. However having been in storage for some years we have classified them as ‘new other’. See the photographs, the ‘Philips’ logo is clearly visible and the chips photographed are of the same batch as the ones you will receive.
