| This cable combines the time and cost savings of mass termination with the electrical performance of twisted pairs, making it ideal for high speed computers and communications equipment. Labour savings of up to 95% as compared to automatic strip and crimp termination are readily achieved. It consists of stranded round conductors insulated with colour coded PVC, twisted into pairs. The unlaminated 18-inch (45,7cm) long twisted pair sections alternate with the 2 inch (5,1cm) flat sections in which the conductors are laminated in parallel.
Cable make up – It consists of stranded tinned copper conductors insulated with colour-coded PVC twisted into pairs the common conductor for each pair is tan coloured. Twisted sections 457mm long (18 in) reform into 50mm (2 in) flat sections in which the conductors are laminated parallel on a 1.27mm pitch. Insulation displacement connectors can be terminated on the flat section, thereby combining the speed and cost-saving of mass termination with the electrical performance of twisted pairs demanded in high speed digital and data communication equipment.
