Nat Semi – National Semiconductor
These are very early Nat Semi parts date coded 7224, the BC172C is a silicon planar epitaxial NPN transistor typically used in low-power audio amplifier and general-purpose switching applications. Housed in a plastic TO-106 package, the ‘C’ rank indicates a high forward current transfer ratio (\(h_{FE}\)).
- Design: Circular domed shape with flat base.
- Leads: 3 gold-plated triangle-configured leads.
- Material: Plastic, or resin encapsulation.
- Common Use: Vintage small-signal NPN and PNP bipolar junction transistors (e.g., early BC-series parts).
- Type: NPN silicon transistor
- Package: TO-106
- Collector-Emitter Voltage (\(V_{CEO}\)): 25 V
- Collector-Base Voltage (\(V_{CBO}\)): 25 V
- Max Collector Current (\(I_{C}\)): 0.1 A (100 mA)
- Collector Power Dissipation (\(P_{c}\)): 0.3 W
- Gain Group (C): High \(h_{FE}\) classification (typically 100–450 range)
- Small-signal audio frequency stages
- Low-noise audio preamplifiers
- General driver stages and low-current DC switching

PLEASE NOTE!
These parts came to us as part of a lot of surplus stock from a large distribution Co. and have been kept in storage for a time, they are however pristine, and, as with all our products they come with a full guarantee.
If you have similar items to this, or indeed any electronic components that are surplus to requirements please contact us with details.
