PANASONIC OPEN PCB POWER SUPPLY MODEL ETXKM242E3C / NPX242E3-1  / NEAMX5 (24 Volt)
THE PSU WAS FOR A KX-FT57E PHONE /FAX

Dimensions:

Length. 143mm Width. 67mm Height. 37mm

(Height being to top of the metal mounting bracket being the highest point above the PCB)

We have little or no data on these as a search online proved fruitless, however a recent customers supplied the following…

“These were actually made for a Panasonic fax machine which by today’s technological standards are very likely obsolete.

General Description…

This is a small ‘open frame’ PCB 240Vac mains driven power supply using discrete components.
The PSU generates two output supplies; one at 24 Volts nominal and one at 5 Volts nominal.
Both are available as soon as the PSU is powered.
In addition there is an output pin where the relay can turn on and off the 24 volts.
The relay is operated by grounding one pin.
The 24 Volt supply can be adjusted by an on-board potentiometer. Test adjustment showed a range between 18.5 and 29.9 Volts.
The 24 Volt supply has been tested at 42 Watts (approx), output and found to be comfortable.
The 24 Volt supply has been tested at 84 Watts (approx), and found to be coping manfully but getting very hot and would probably be unreliable at that rating.
The 5 Volt supply was tested at 0.77 Amp and fell to 4.27 Volts (24 Volts on no-load).
This would probably have been better if the 24 Volt had been loaded.
Considering the Voltage Regulator the 5 Volt should not be expected to supply more than 0.5 Amp.

On Board Components include:-
Input Fuse 3.13 Amp.
Thermal Fuse 135C and 2 Amp.
Mosfet power transistor K2700, 900v.
Capacitor 56uF 400v.
Relay DG1U 24v. Coil, contact 8A at 30v or 0.8A at 250v a.c.
Dual Rectifier Diode MA6D49 200v. 5A.
Low Dropout Voltage Regulator 3050N

Reverse Engineered Specification.
Input 230 Vac.
Output 1; 24 Volts, 2.5 Amps (60 Watts); adjustable on-board from 18.5 to 29.9 Volts (approx).
Output 2; 5 Volts, 0.5 Amps; (conservative if 24 Volts is on-load).

General Conclusion… a very useful power supply.
Covering the Voltage and power levels used in small TV sets and Wide Screen Computer Monitors. In particular it covers the Power Voltages used for Laptop Computers.
Although this PSU would probably not be happy in an airtight plastic box a suitable enclosure could be devised to allow this PSU to be used to replace an expensive and difficult-to obtain Laptop PSUs in the range 18 Volts to 30 Volts; and beyond this if fixed resistors on the circuit board are changed.
In addition it is possible that this circuit could be modified for use within a 24 volt charger for Electric Bicycles, wheelchairs and the like.”

Another recent customer also supplied the following…

“I bought this to power an 8″ floppy drive, that needs +5  and +24 volts, at around half an amp each. I unsoldered / removed the relay and bridged the contact pads, then tested on an electronic load,  24 volts 1 amp load and 0.5 amps on the 5v rail. Heatsink gets just warm at that level, and the 5v rail looks like a standard 5 volt 1A regulator, so would probably be good for a bit more. May buy another for a spare, but just thought the info might be of some use…”

PLEASE NOTE!

These parts came to us as part of a lot of surplus stock from a large distribution Co. and have been kept in storage for a time, we have therefore classified them as ‘new other’, they are however pristine, stored with us still in their original packaging, the photographs are representative of their excellent condition being of some of our actual stock, and, as with all our products they come with a full guarantee.
