RCA (Radio Corporation of America) Radiotron Electron Tube
Type 6K8
The 6K8 triode hexode valve was purpose designed as a radio frequency changer. The valve has a common cathode and is unusual in that the triode and hexode control grids are internally connected. The local oscillator would produce 7.5 Volts peak to peak signal from the triode section. The input signal would be coupled to the frequency changer via the top cap connection to grid 3. As a metal enveloped valve at the top cap connection is interesting. The connector is standard but is set in an insulating disk that is then sealed into a shaped end of the envelope.
These have an Octal (8 pin) base if sockets required see our item numbers 391276986696 and 391632053498

They are stored with us still sealed in original suppliers boxes and are in good serviceable condition – however we have recently had some feedback from a customer who purchased 10 of these from us, he stated that 4 of the 10 he bought had spots of oxidisation on the casings, while all of the valve’s worked perfectly, and he was happy with his purchase he suggested we include this information for the benefit of future customers, – WHICH WE ARE HAPPY TO DO.
So please be aware these are ‘new old stock’ and while we guarantee them to work, they may show a few signs of their age.

These parts came to us as part of a lot of surplus stock from a large Milspec type Co. and have been kept in storage for some time, we have therefore classified them as ‘new other’. They are however in good working order, still in their original packaging, the photographs are representative of their general appearance being of one of our actual stock, and, as with all our products they come with a full guarantee.
