Vintage part made in 1975.

A TO-3 metal-can power semiconductor marked with “SGS” (Società Generale Semiconduttori), an Italian electronics company founded in 1957. It later became SGS-ATES in the 1970s and eventually merged with Thomson Semiconducteurs in 1987 to become SGS-Thomson Microelectronics (now known globally as STMicroelectronics).

The SGS BDY92 is a silicon multiepitaxial planar NPN power transistor manufactured by SGS-Thomson. It comes in a metal TO-3 package and is designed for low-frequency power, switching regulators, inverters, and power control applications.
