General Description
The 8224 is a clock generator/driver contained in a standard, 16-pin dual-in-line package. The chip, which is fabricated using Schottky Bipolar technology, generates clocks and timing for the 8080A microcomputer family.

Manufactured in the 80’s. 

This Tesla Chip is a clone of the Intel D8224 clock generator, part of the Intel 8080 CPU family D8080A

A number of processors compatible with the Intel 8080A were manufactured in the Eastern Bloc: the KR580VM80A (initially marked as КР580ИК80) in the Soviet Union, the MCY7880  made by Unitra CEMI in Poland, the MHB8080A  made by TESLA in Czechoslovakia, the 8080APC  made by Tungsram / MEV in Hungary, and the MMN8080  made by Microelectronica Bucharest in Romania.

They were used in early computers in Czechoslovakia used for learning programming machine code in Czech and Slovakian Polytechnics and Universities in the 80’s.

It was developed and manufactured in the Tesla Piestany factory whose core business was to produce active components like diodes, transistors and integrated circuits, including the MHB 8080A CPU and support chips from this family.

These parts came to us as part of a lot of surplus stock from Slovenia and have been kept in storage for some time, we have therefore classified them as ‘new other’. They are however pristine, stored with us still in their original packaging (plastic trays), the photographs are representative of their excellent condition, being of some of our actual stock, and, as with all our products they come with a full guarantee.
