Context & Usage
During the late 1970s and 1980s, original microchip developers like MOS Technology frequently licensed their designs to second-source manufacturers to ensure production stability and meet global market demands. While Rockwell was the most common producer of the R6502AP variant, Thomson-CSF manufactured these chips for the European market, particularly for industrial equipment, French computers, and arcade system boards. It is completely pin-compatible and software-compatible with any standard 6502A processor operating at up to 2 MHz.

These Thompson CSF parts dated 8441 are now obsolete.
